Fall Reset – Mindset Shift, Slow Mornings & Prep for a New Season

A Fall reset routine that will help shift your mindset, begin your days with a slow morning routine, and how to prep for a new season. With the weather cooling down, Fall decor being displayed in every store, and pumpkin spice seen everywhere, it’s time for a Fall reset.

What is A Reset Routine?

A reset routine helps you prepare for a new season, reflect on the previous season, and helps you stay on track with your goals and intentions. Having a reset routine is personal to everyone so look at this checklist as a rough draft. You might want to take some tasks out or add some in.

Fall Reset Routine

1. Set An Intention For Fall

With the start of the new season also comes a new mindset. An intention is something you intend to do or be, so who do you want to be this Fall? Is this the season of healing, becoming that girl, or glowing up? When writing your intention, use “I” language, for example, “I am going to walk 10k steps every day”. It helps signal to your mind that you intend to accomplish your goals.

2. Brain Dump: Make A Master To-Do List

Have trouble focusing or can’t keep up with all the tasks you have left to do this year? Try writing down a master to-do list with everything that you have on your mind. Once you make the list, separate them into priority. Put the tasks you want/need to do at the top and the least priorities at the bottom. Once you see everything written down and prioritized, it will help you get through the list quicker!

3. Deep Clean Your Space

This doesnโ€™t have to be done in a day. I usually deep clean a room one day at a time. This helps me really focus on what needs extra attention in that space. Dust, vacuum, mop, steam, scrub, wash the sheets, etc. Get the space looking brand new and sparkling clean. Going into a new season with a clean space is always a good feeling.

4. Decorate for Fall & Halloween

Switch brighter colors for darker colors around your home. Replace your white throw blanket with a chocolate brown one. Buy aesthetic Halloween decor that won’t ruin your neutral home decor. I love decorating for a new season because it feels like I’m romanticizing the season and enjoying everything that comes with it.

5. Enjoy Slow Mornings

A slow morning routine during the Fall time is one of the best feelings. This season, take your time enjoying every moment of your morning routine. Romanticize making your morning beverage, write down an intention for the day, stretch your body, or walk outside. Starting your morning slowly brings more attention to the moment, helps keep the focus on you, and helps you ease into the rest of the day.

6. Start a Gratitude Journal

Something to add to your morning routine is to start a gratitude journal. With the year coming to an end, there is so much to be grateful for. The roof over your head, the family and friends that love you, and the job that helps you live the life you want. It’s a five-minute act that sets up the rest of the day with gratitude and love.

7. Organize Closet and Only Purchase Clothing Basics

Every new season I like to organize and clean out my closet. It keeps me from hoarding clothes that I no longer wear or have never worn. If it’s been more than a year since wearing it, then it gets put into the donation pile. If it no longer fits, I usually keep it because I don’t know about you but I fluctuate in weight every few months. I always keep two different sizes of jeans on hand because you never know! Also, if you’re going to buy new clothes try to only buy basics like long sleeves, short sleeves or cardigans!

8. Prepare for Quarter Four: Goal Setting

It’s the fourth quarter of the year which means we’re almost at the finish line! Take a look at the goals you have left in the year and make sure to set tiny goals each week to help you reach your yearly goals. For example, if your goal is to eat healthier meals then your weekly goal could be to try three healthy recipes. Little habits lead to big changes, so small steps are better than none.

9. Go on more walks

Since the weather is becoming more bearable during the day, try taking a walk on your 15-minute break. Go outside for some fresh air and vitamin D. This helps clear the mind from anxious thoughts and resets your body to get you through the rest of the day.

10. Read a Self-Help Book

This is where your mindset will shift this Fall season. With the holidays coming up, it can be a very anxious and fast-paced season so make sure you’re focusing on your mental health. I found this book called State Change: End Anxiety, Beat Burnout, and Ignite A New Baseline of Energy and Flow by Robin Berzin, MD and it has really helped me get my life back together. Every few months we tend to get off track and that’s okay but staying disciplined is what keeps us toward accomplishing our goals.
