Rating & Reviewing All The Books I Read In 2021
Rating all the books I read this year including 3 books I can’t stop thinking about and would recommend to everyone.
My last post of the year! Thank you so much for the love and support you all have given me. If you read, shared, or supported my blog thank you so much it means the absolute world to me.
Today, I am rating and reviewing (no spoilers) every book I read this year. Yes, it’s 12 books but my goal this year was to read one book a month and I actually did it! Reading for fun has always been a goal of mine so to finally do it feels like a huge accomplishment for me. Whether you read 5 books or 100, remember reading is for fun and expands the mind in many ways.
I honestly really enjoyed reading all these, but 3, in particular, were my absolute favorites that I cannot stop thinking about and would recommend to everyone.
quick note: I always share which book I read at the beginning of the month on my Instagram stories, in case you want to read along with me. Then I review (no spoiler) and rate them when I’m done. Follow me here if you want to stay updated!
Big Magic
ELIZABETH GILBERT
This book teaches you what it means to create, why we should create, and to never stop creating. Each section tells a different story about the Big Magic that happens in every one of us, even if you think you don’t live a creative life. It honestly opened my eyes to creativity and why we should just go for it despite the outcome. So many other life lessons in this book. Highly recommend it if you’re a writer, blogger, or content creator.

The Guest List
LUCY FOLEY
The ending came together so well! I was honestly shocked by how many twists this had. The last 100 pages had me saying “WTF” like six times lol. If you love murder, thriller, and drama stories, then this is for you!
The perfect couple is getting married on the perfect Island and everything is going well until someone shows up dead. It’s a “who done it” and who died kind of book with so many plot twists!
rating: 9/10
Verity
COLLEEN HOOVER
I finished this book in two days because I wanted to know the ending so bad! Every chapter kept me wanting to know more. It was really good and I would recommend it to everyone, even if you don’t like to read!
Lowen is asked to finish a series of books by her favorite author Verity. She soon finds out Verity has been hiding something very disturbing, but should Lowen share these dark secrets?
I gave it a 9/10 because some parts are disturbing to read and there is an unnecessary amount of sex scenes (lol).
rating: 9/10
You Are Not Alone
GREER HENDRICKS & SARAH PEKKANEN
Not my favorite but still entertaining and a good plot twist that I did not see coming! A girl named Shay meets the Moore Sisters and her life takes a complete 180 for the better, so she thinks. She soon realizes the Moore Sisters are not who they perceive to be but it may be too late for Shay to walk away free.

The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Wisdom
DON MIGUEL RUIZ
The Four Agreements is a book I wish I read in high school. It has such great life lessons and wisdom to live by. Itโs a great self-help book if you are on the journey towards more self-love and inner peace. I had to learn these lessons the hard way, so if you have a chance to pick this up I promise you wonโt regret it. Itโs only 160 pages and less than $6 on Amazon!
rating: 8/10
The Midnight Library
MATT HAIG
A unique story about depression and the regrets we have in life. Nora Seed is in a place called “The Midnight Library” where she gets to experience every life she could have had. It’s a modern fantasy fiction filled with life lessons and existential questions (and answers). It’s a nice and happy read, something totally different than what I usually read so I was happy with this one.

Rich Dad Poor Dad
ROBERT T. KIYOSAKI
I’ve never read a finance book in my life but this was easy to understand and changed my perspective on money. This book is great if you want to learn about: why you should invest your money instead of saving it, the importance of financial literacy, and how the rich don’t work for their money.
rating: 7/10
The Power of Habit
CHARLES DUHIGG
I desperately needed a book to read about habits. This book gave me insight as to why and how we form habits and how we can switch โbadโ habits with good ones. It goes into detail about how habits are simply a โloopโ (cue, routine, reward) and how to use that to your advantage and change your life forever. Itโs a great self-help book if youโre stuck in a rut or want to change some old habits.
rating: 8/10
The Silent Patient
ALEX MICHAELIDES
This is about a woman who kills her husband and never speaks again. A psychoanalyst sets out to figure out what happened to her and finally share her story. I really did like this book but I felt like it was missing something. The storyline kept moving along without you really getting to know the characters. I didn’t guess that ending at all, though! It’s great if you want a short thriller story.
rating: 8/10
The Wife Between Us
GREER HENDRICKS & SARAH PEKKANAN
This one is about an ex-wife who is obsessed with her new younger replacement that is about to marry her ex-husband. As the story unravels, you start to figure out what happened with her ex-husband and why he starts to see someone else. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline and how the narrator starts to find herself again but the last plot twist was so random!!
rating: 7.5/10
Before She Knew Him
PETER SWANSON
A thriller that kept me guessing until the end. Hen and her husband just moved to a quiet suburban house next to a couple who also has no kids. When the couple invites Hen and her husband over, Hen sees a piece of evidence from a cold case she was obsessed with when she was manic. Her husband doesnโt believe her, the police donโt believe her and sheโs having trouble remembering what she saw. I loved that this was quickly paced, no fluff, and easy to get into. That ending had me shocked and re-reading some parts that might have foreshadowed that great ending!
rating: 8.5/10
You Are A Badass
JEN SINCERO
Ended the year with a self-help and this one was actually good! I liked that Sincero didn’t sugarcoat anything, she was straight to the point and was very blunt. Sometimes we need a little tough love that will help us in the long term. She wasn’t too preachy, her stories were meaningful and she ended with inspiration to start your new “badass” journey.
