Best Halloween Movies & Shows on Netflix

If you plan on having a horror movie or tv show marathon, be sure to add these frightening picks to your list.

Do you ever just want to watch a movie but then go onto Netflix, search for thirty minutes and ultimately can’t decide what to watch? Well, this list will help you narrow down your search. I’ve watched a lot of horror and thriller movies and shows in my day, and these are the best Netflix has to offer this Halloween 2019.

Best Horror Movies

American Psycho

I mean, this a must-watch. It’s a thriller, slasher movie that’s a classic. Christian Bale plays a business man during the day and serial killer at night, and does a phenomenal job at it. Not so much scary, but definitely has blood involved.

The Conjuring

This is an actual scary movie, like jump scenes and scary music. It takes place in 1970 where two paranormal investigators, the Warrens, help a family that is being haunted. The Warrens soon find out the family’s house has a gruesome history. What makes this scarier than it already is; it’s based on a true story.

Insidious

Creepy music, paranormal activity and directed by the man who made the Saw series, James Wan, this movie has it all. Seriously, the creepy violin music makes you anxious and cautious about what’s going to happen next. It’s about a son being haunted by a dark figure and a paranormal team tries to help him but things only get worse from there.

The Ritual

Itโ€™s basically about how these four guy friends go on a hike in a Swedish forrest and take a wrong turn (to say the least). Strange things start happening, weird noises are heard throughout the woods, and some demonic encounters start to happen. I mean when you see an animal with itโ€™s guts completely ripped out, wouldnโ€™t you run away as fast as possible?? Well these dudes donโ€™t and things get pretty wild from there.ย

Would You Rather

If you loved the Saw series, you’ll love this movie. It’s about how a group people, who are desperate for money, play a game of “would you rather” for a large sum of cash. However, the choices become extreme and deadly. It shows how far people are willingly to go for a certain amount of money.

Best Halloween Kid Movie: Hotel Transylvania 3

If you want to watch a Halloween movie suitable for children, then I would definitely suggest this one! I recommend watching the first two before this one, but this is the only one available on Netflix. It’s about a family of monsters and their friends going on a vacation together, where the father, Count Dracula, finds true love. Super cute movie, I’ve watched it so many times by now!

Best Scary/Thriller TV shows

The Haunting of Hill House

This is such a creepy show! Like I literally had trouble sleeping after this lol. It follows a family who experienced strange things in their childhood home to when they are adults experiencing the side effects of their hauntings. I loved all the characters and the storyline was fresh and worth binge watching.

Dexter

Who doesn’t love a good old forensic investigator who is also a serial killer? Just me? Dexter helps solves crimes but he also kills people who have done bad things. I mean he’s the nicest serial killer, to be honest. Loved this series, perfect to watch around Halloween time.

You

This show is SO good! Another serial killer who is also “a nice guy” and also a stalker. He is infatuated with a girl he met, and starts to become deadly obsessed with her. It’s a modern day thriller where he uses social media to keep track and get closer to her.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

If you watched the original series to this, don’t expect this to be similar, LIKE AT ALL. It’s dark, satanic, and anything but cute. Sabrina is half-mortal, half-witch and is struggling to pick which world she wants to be apart of. As she’s going through typical high school drama, she’s also trying to avoid signing her soul to the Dark Lord. Sounds like a typical teenage experience.

Stranger Things

This is more of a Sci-Fi series, but perfect for Halloween, none-the-less! This is a bit more difficult to describe because so much goes on in this series. It mainly follows a group kids who have to deal with supernatural creatures, government operations, and a girl who has “superpowers”. It’s funny, creepy and perfect to binge watch with kids on Halloween.

Until next time,
