If you’ve been thinking about starting your fitness journey, then here are 10 products that will help you get started. I’ve been consistently working out for 10 years and I have been slowly adding things to my routine that have helped me tremendously. Of course, you don’t need any of these things to get started and you definitely don’t need them all at once. It took me years to figure out what I needed/liked. If I were to recommend only one thing from this list it would be a Fitbit, because it gives such great insight into my workout sessions. I hope this article helps you start your fitness and health journey and remember baby steps are better than none.
1. Fitness Tracker
Owning a fitness tracker will change the game for your health and fitness journey. They track the calories you burn during a workout, steps, heart rate, and your sleep. A fitness tracker is perfect for tracking your steps on your next hot girl walk. For something more discrete the Oura Ring does the same thing!
2. Food Scale
A food scale is surprisingly the perfect addition to your kitchen essentials. It takes the guessing out of how many calories and nutrients you are getting in a day. You can adequately measure the serving sizes of ingredients and food items. This is especially useful when weighing proteins such as chicken and meats.
3. Weights
At-home weights are a great investment if you plan on working out from home. Weights can be used for strength training, building muscle, and adding resistance. Dumbells, kettlebells, or ankle weights are perfect to start with at the beginning of your health and fitness journey.
4. Resistance Bands
Another great way to make your exercises a little more challenging is resistance bands. These are perfect for glutes, arms, and legs. They can be used for multiple workouts in multiple ways. They come in light, medium, and heavy resistance so you can challenge yourself throughout your whole journey.
5. Yoga Mat
A yoga mat isn’t just for yoga; It’s essential for anyone who is into fitness. It provides comfort, and a grippy clean surface to exercise or stretch on. No one wants to work out on the hardwood floor or get a rug burn from the carpet. Yoga mats come in multiple sizes of thickness so make sure to get one for your own needs.
6. Water Tumbler
Drinking enough water is the best way to stay hydrated and energized throughout the day. I recently got this water tumbler from Amazon and it is a game changer! It’s 40oz, keeps my drinks cold or hot, and has a handle and straw. I now stick to my daily intake of 60oz because I only have to fill it up twice.
7. Electrolytes
These are essential for cardio, HIIT, hiking, or any high intense activity. The electrolytes in the hydration tablets provide essential minerals such as sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. These are the minerals that are lost when sweating, so drinking electrolytes helps you recover them.
8. Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones
These are perfect for the gym, at-home workouts, the treadmill, and walks. It helps to focus on your own workout and eliminate other distractions. Listen to your favorite playlist, podcast, or audiobook without outside noise.
9. Workout Shoes
Whether you’re walking, running, strength training, or hiking, a good pair of shoes could make or break a good workout. Make sure to find the perfect pair for your exercise regime.
10. Workout Set
I don’t know about you but a cute workout set makes you workout harder. It’s science-based (jk). In all seriousness, fashion is a form of expression, and wearing something that is comfortable to you is important when going to the gym, hiking, or walking. Pick colors, styles, and coverage that you like and make you feel your best!
