Feeling overwhelmed and unmotivated but wanting to get back on track, here’s a checklist for getting your life together in one day.
Not every day, week or even month is going to be productive or feel like you have your life together and that’s okay. Sometimes we let our rooms get a little bit too messy or we let the dishes pile up for too long. The thing about a new day, is that we get a new start. This checklist is perfect if you need help getting your life together in one day. Here’s what you need to do.
How To Get Your Life Together In One Day
1. Stop Comparing Your Life to Others
Sometimes you may feel like you don’t have your life together because people on social media only post about the good parts. Everyone is on a different journey in life at different speeds. Comparing your life to others isn’t fair to yourself and you don’t deserve to discredit the things you’ve already accomplished or are accomplishing. Start by shifting your thoughts to positive ones and you’ll start to notice that your life is not as bad as you thought.
2. Shift Your Mindset
Instead of focusing on that big house you don’t have yet, be grateful you have a roof over your head. Instead of focusing on losing 10 pounds and having your “dream body”, focus on eating foods that nourish and fuel your body. Once you start shifting your mindset from negative to positive thoughts, your whole view of your life will change.
3. Make a to-do List
Now that you feel a little bit better about your life, focus on the things you can control. Make a to-do list of the things you may have neglected in the past week. Prioritize the tasks that need immediate attention. If there are still tasks on your list by the end of the day, finish them tomorrow.
4. Clean and Organize your space
Nothing is better than a clean and fresh environment. Make your bed, clean up the “clean clothes pile”, organize your closet, tidy up the whole place and clean the bathrooms. Putting on your favorite music playlists definitely helps set the cleaning tone.
5. Do The Laundry
Laundry day always makes you feel like you have your life together. Before cleaning your space, throw in a load of laundry so that by the time you’re done cleaning the laundry is done too. We love a double-tasking moment.
journal // sweatshirt // sweatpants // daily planner // water bottle // bath bombs // shoes
6. Plan The Week
Didn’t finish everything on your to-do list? No problem, just add it to your weekly planner. While you’re at it, plan the rest of the week. Include work life, self-care, exercises, appointments, or things you’ve been putting off.
7. Get Your Body Moving
Exercising for just 30 minutes every day is very important to your mental and physical health. Going back to shifting your mind, you should see exercise as something that makes you healthier, stronger, and more energized. Moving your body shouldn’t be a chore. It could be walking, yoga, pilates, or lifting weights. Find something that works for you and your lifestyle and “workout” level.
8. Journal
Wanting to get your life back together means you fell off your routine. Journal about what you felt during that period. Keep a journal for self-reflection and your thoughts and feelings. Why did you get off track? Also, write about how you feel after doing this checklist. Do you feel better or the same? Why?
9. Self-care and Pamper Routine
I strongly believe that you need to “take care of yourself before you can take of others”. Maybe you feel like you got off routine because you were constantly on other people’s schedules. Make time for self-care every day for at least 30 minutes. You are important, you deserve it and yes you need this.
10. Get 8 Hours of Sleep
It’s now the end of the day, you finished your checklist and now it’s time for bed. Perform your nightly ritual: dim the lights, undo your bed, put your phone on “do not disturb” and make some sleepytime tea. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night to help reduce stress, improve mood, and feel rested for a brand new day.
