A new month means it’s time for a reset. A monthly reset routine helps you prepare for a new month, reflect on the previous month, and helps you stay on track with your goals and intentions. Having a monthly reset routine is personal to everyone so look at this checklist as a rough draft. You might want to take some tasks out or add some in.
Monthly Reset Routine
1. Review Last Month’s Goals + Intentions
The first step to a monthly reset routine is to reflect on the previous month. Did you accomplish your goals? Did you focus on your intentions? Creating goals each month will help you focus on the bigger picture. It will help you towards your yearly goals and big dreams.
2. Journal Prompts
Now let’s focus on some quick journal prompts. Reflecting and writing about each month helps you acknowledge accomplishments, gratitude, how to better yourself, and find out what didn’t work. Here are journal prompts for your monthly reset:
• What did I accomplish this month?
• How was I feeling this month? Why?
• What didn’t work this month?
• What can I do better next month?
3. Highs and Lows
It’s important that you acknowledge and reflect on our highs and lows of the month. This will allow you to celebrate your highs and learn from your lows. Every month is not going to be filled with highs and that is completely normal. Life is unpredictable so reflect on your highs and lows so you can move onto the next month.
4. Brain Dump
Start off every new month with a brain dump. Write down everything that is on your mind on a sheet of paper or a note on your phone. What needs to get done next month, what do you need to buy, and what do you need to schedule, clean, or book? Think of this as a physical copy of everything that occupies your mind.
5. Set New Goals + Intentions
Take that brain dump and create goals and intentions with it. These should piggyback off your yearly goals but be smaller. For example, your yearly goal could be to work out more. Your monthly goal could be pilates three times a week. Keep your goals to a minimum so that they’re attainable and accomplishable.

6. Vision/Mood Board
Now that you have set your goals and intentions, pick out some images on Pinterest that match them and make a vision/mood board. This especially helps if you are a visual person. Physically seeing your goals will remind you why you want to accomplish them.
7. Set A Budget For Finances
This step will really help you focus on how you’re spending your money and track it efficiently. 8. Update Calendar and To-Do Lists
Time to fill out your calendar with due dates, appointments, birthdays, and other important dates. A visual reminder will help you remember these dates better. Also, write down anything that needs to get done that month. You can later schedule these tasks in your weekly schedule.
9. Deep Clean Your Space
If you neglected some areas in your space throughout the month, it’s time to give them a deep clean. Wipe down the cabinets, clean the oven, washer and dryer, or scrub down the shower. This prevents things from getting too dirty or even damaged. Of course, wash your sheets and tidy up your whole place for a clean, organized space.
10. Digital Declutter
Not many people do a monthly digital declutter, but this helps with anxiety, stress and improves productivity. A digital declutter is getting rid of all the unnecessary stuff on your devices and organizing it. Delete screenshots and photos you don’t need anymore, clear out your inbox, unsubscribe from retail emails, or organize your apps into folders. Your devices will look cleaner and simpler so you’ll feel less stressed when looking at them.
