Rating Every Book I’ve Read This Year – So Far

Rating every book I’ve read this year including one of my favorite books that I will now recommend to everyone, even if they don’t read.

I can’t believe it’s already the end of June! I’m honestly shocked how fast this year is going by. I’m happy to report that I’m on track to read 12 books this year. I know that’s not a lot, at all,ย but I literally haven’t read a book in so long. Since it’s mid-year I thought I would review and rate all the books I’ve read so far.

quick note: I always share which book I read at the beginning of the month on my Instagram stories, in case you want to read along with me. Then I review and rate them when I’m done. Follow me hereย if you want to stay updated!

Big Magic

ELIZABETH GILBERT

This book teaches you what it means to create, why we should create, and to never stop creating. Each section tells a different story about the Big Magic that happens in every one of us, even if you think you don’t live a creative life. It honestly opened my eyes to creativity and why we should just go for it despite the outcome. So many other life lessons in this book. Highly recommend it if you’re a writer, blogger, or content creator.

The Guest List

LUCY FOLEY

The ending came together so well! I was honestly shocked by how many twists this had. The last 100 pages had me saying “WTF” like six times lol. If you love murder, thriller, and drama stories, then this is for you!

The perfect couple is getting married on the perfect Island and everything is going well until someone shows up dead. It’s a “who done it” and who died kind of book with so many plot twists!

Verity

COLLEEN HOOVER

I finished this book in two days because I wanted to know the ending so bad! Every chapter kept me wanting to know more. It was really good and I would recommend it to everyone, even if you don’t like to read!

Lowen is asked to finish a series of books by her favorite author Verity. She soon finds out Verity has been hiding something very disturbing, but should Lowen share these dark secrets?

I gave it a 9/10 because some parts are disturbing to read and there is an unnecessary amount of sex scenes (lol).

You Are Not Alone

GREER HENDRICKS & SARAH PEKKANEN

Not my favorite but still entertaining and a good plot twist that I did not see coming! A girl named Shay meets the Moore Sisters and her life takes a complete 180 for the better, so she thinks. She soon realizes the Moore Sisters are not who they perceive to be but it may be too late for Shay to walk away free.

The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Wisdom

DON MIGUEL RUIZ

The Four Agreements is a book I wish I read in high school. It has such great life lessons and wisdom to live by. Itโ€™s a great self-help book if you are on the journey towards more self-love and inner peace. I had to learn these lessons the hard way, so if you have a chance to pick this up I promise you wonโ€™t regret it. Itโ€™s only 160 pages and less than $6 on Amazon!

The Midnight Library

MATT HAIG

A unique story about depression and the regrets we have in life. Nora Seed is in a place called “The Midnight Library” where she gets to experience every life she could have had. It’s a modern fantasy fiction filled with life lessons and existential questions (and answers). It’s a nice and happy read, something totally different than what I usually read so I was happy with this one.

  1. Wow, you have dont a lot of reading this year! Reminds me to pull out the books I want to read and have them in a spot I see them. I also need to create a reading nook with a comfy chair. And I love the Four Agreements. So good.

    1. I always think I don’t read nearly as much as others but it’s better than nothing! haha I would love a comfy reading nook, but my bed will have to do for now. Also, the Four Agreements is a must-read!

  2. A few of these are on my TBR list. I’ve seen lots of reviews about The Mightnight Library and the plot is so intruiging to me. I’ve also hear good things about The Guest List and purchased it for a friend. I’ll have to read it too!

  3. Oooh we love an avid reader! Those books look extremely interesting, I read Big Magic as well and that completely changed up my perspective on creativity! Thank you so much for sharing ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I’m going to take this post a sign to pick up one of my book (from a very large pile) and start my summer reading! I might have to pick up one or two from your list though, they seem right up my ally~
