Reset Routine: Productive and Relaxing + FREE Checklist
A productive and relaxing reset routine that will help you get your life back together in one day. Plus, a free checklist to create your own!
Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed, stressed, or in a funk but that’s when a reset routine comes in for the win. Having a reset day is essential to feeling like you have your life together. It’s a day where you can focus on all the things you have been putting off or haven’t had the time to do.
What is a Reset Routine?
A reset routine is a day to get everything in your life back in order. It can consist of a day full of cleaning, self-care, planning, organizing, or whatever you need to help you “reset”. This reset day can be productive, relaxing, or both.
A Productive + Relaxing Reset Routine
Reset the Mind
When it comes to a good reset routine, it should start with the mind. I personally have a reset routine because it helps reduce my anxiety. The mind is a powerful thing and if we donโt take control of our thoughts, it will control us. Itโs essential that we reset and reflect on what is going on with our mental health weekly or monthly. Here are some ways to reset the mind:
Update Calendar and To-Do Lists
If you find that you are stressed out in your personal life or work, I recommend updating your calendar or to-lists. Update your brain dump, cross off or add new tasks on your to-lists, plan your month, set new intentions, or create a new everyday schedule. I keep all my tasks, to-do lists, and calendars on my Notion. Itโs a one-stop-shop for all things productivity, lists, projects, habit tracking and so much more. It truly has changed my life from feeling anxious about where all my ideas, projects, and lists are located. Here is a beginner’s guide to getting you started.
Social Media Detox
Social media can be the cause of comparison, body dysmorphia, stress, anxiety, and depression. If youโre feeling like social media does you more harm than good, itโs time for a detox. Iโm personally on my own type of detox at the moment. I set a screen time where I can only look at certain apps during the day. This signals to my brain that itโs “me time”, itโs time to get things done, and itโs time to be productive. By focusing on you first, you become your number one priority.

โข journaling
โข reading a self-help book
โข clearing out email inbox
โข unfollowing people who no longer inspire you
Reset the Body
Mind and body go hand in hand. When the body is physically struggling, it can affect your mood, thoughts, and overall well-being. When youโre mind is struggling, it can affect your body physically like cause fatigue or headaches. So, itโs important to reset the body because it will improve your stress, brain, and heart. Here are some ways to reset the body:
Plan and Make Healthy Meals
When I say body detox, Iโm not talking juice cleanses or juice detoxes (that basically just makes you go to the bathroom non-stop). Iโm talking about nourishing the body with foods that feed the body and soul. Instead of making your hyper-fixated meal (the meal youโve been making for an extended period of time), try a new recipe with fresh ingredients. On your reset day, make a day of it and plan out your meals for the week, go grocery store shopping, and maybe even meal prep! Try to avoid excess junk food because it can make you feel sluggish but a couple of cookies is completely fine!
Stretching and Walking
Stretching your body can go a long way. It can increase muscle blood flow, decrease tension headaches, and can even calm your mind. Once again, the body and mind are connected, so when your body feels good so does your mind. Also, take some during the day to go for a walk and get some fresh air. Maybe walk to a new place to change up the routine.

โข take a warm bath

Reset the Environment
Another aspect to focus on in your reset routine is your environment. Your desk space, your bedroom, your bathroom, your car, your closet, and whatever else you surround yourself with. Your environment plays a huge part in your life, so keeping it clean and organized will help keep your stress at bay. Here are some ways to reset your environment:
Clean Your Space
Once a week, clean your bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, desk, and wherever else you spend your time in. Clean your bedsheets each week, remove unnecessary items from your desk, wash your laundry, or organize your closet. A clean, organized environment allows for a clear mind and a nice refresh.
Reorganize
The power of reorganizing is magical. When you canโt change the environment you are in, you can change how it looks. Try moving some things around in your room, re-organize your desk space, or try buying new decor. The possibilities are endless. This will give your environment a new look without having to do too much.

โข buy fresh flowers
โข burn a soy candle
