How to Have the Perfect Sunday Self-Care Routine

The perfect self-care routine for an instant glow-up to start your week. This routine focuses on helping you feel your absolute best, whether recovering from a busy week or preparing for one.

Self-Care Routine

1. Move Your Body

The best way to start your self-care Sunday is by moving your body. Stretching, yoga, or walking outside is the best thing you can do to start your day. Stretching promotes better circulation, yoga reduces stress, and walking outside increases your mood. Bonus points if you do all three!

2. Take an “Everything” Shower

Okay, the real self-care routine starts here. An “everything” shower includes exfoliating, shaving, washing your hair, doing a hair mask, etc. This is where your ultimate glow-up will happen. You’ll feel smooth, refreshed, and ready to start your week.

3. Red Light Masks

Red light therapy masks stimulate collagen and elastin production, reducing wrinkles and fine lines. They help with skin texture and leave your skin extra glowy and radiant. The best one-time investment you’ll make. I personally use the Currentbody LED Face & Neck masks. You can use my discount code “ERIKALED” for 10% off.

4. Face + Eye Masks

It’s important to hydrate after red light therapy, so try using a hydrating face and eye mask after your treatment. Look for face masks that are labeled hydrating, moisturizing, or have collagen in them. Eye masks are great for reducing the appearance of fine lines and keeping the skin around your eyes firm. My favorite eye masks are from Grace and Stella.

5. Gua Sha

Gua Sha is amazing for lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness, and relieving pain. A Gua Sha routine can change the whole appearance of your face. Every time I do my routine, my face looks less puffiness with a more defined jawline. It also feels amazing for shoulder pain!

6. Refresh Nails

Trim the nails, file them, cut the cuticles, and add a fresh coat of clear or colored nail polish. Nail care helps you look and feel more put together, so it’s something worth doing weekly.

7. Gratitude Journal

If you don’t have time to journal daily, no worries! Journaling once a week for just 5 minutes can be just as effective. Write down five things you’re grateful for, including some highs and lows from the week. Reflecting is a great way to reach your goals and find inner peace.

8. Drink Herbal Tea

Set the tone for the night and pour yourself a cup of herbal tea. Chamomile, peppermint, and ginger are some of my favorites to drink at night. Each tea has different benefits; for example, ginger tea is great if you have an upset stomach.

9. Red Light During Bedtime

Red light promotes relaxation and melatonin production, therefore helping you fall asleep faster and improves sleep quality. Having a color-changing light bulb is the best thing because you can have any color of light you want.

10. No Phone in Bed

This is a hard one for a lot of people, including myself, but I found that I wake up groggy in the morning after looking at my phone before sleeping. If possible, have your phone as far away from you as you can. You can fall asleep to rain sounds, white noise, or from reading a book. Either way, no social media before falling asleep so it doesn’t affect your mood the next morning or leave you staying awake doom scrolling.
