A summer morning routine for a slow and productive way to start your day. Healthy habits for a slow morning routine.
What is a Morning Routine?
A morning routine consists of a list of things you want to get done before starting your day. The list can include healthy habits, productive tasks, or things you have to get done. It helps set the tone for the set of your day. Here are 10 ideas for a productive, slow Summer morning routine.
Summer Morning Routine
1. A Slow Start
A slow start to your summer morning routine will change your life. Start by choosing an alarm sound that is gentle and not too loud. On iPhone, you can set your alarm to “Early Riser” for a soft gradual alarm sound. You can also use the Hatch Restore smart alarm clock that uses a “sunrise” to wake you up gradually with light instead of a loud noise. Continue your slow start by opening your blinds, making your bed, and stretching.
2. No Technology or News
Eliminate technology, social media, and the news in your morning routine. The morning is a time to focus on yourself and your well-being. The news and social media can be overwhelming and overstimulating for the start of the day, so I suggest avoiding it for at least an hour after waking up.
3. Ice Roll
Adding ice rolling to your summer morning routine is refreshing and instantly wakes you up. This ice roller from Amazon depuffs your face and helps with lymphatic drainage giving you an instant little face lift.
4. Read 1 Chapter or Journal
Wake up your brain and senses with reading or journaling. Read a chapter from a self-help that brings positivity or insightfulness to your morning. This can help with anxiety or stress before you start your day. Writing down your thoughts can also help you start your day with gratitude and peace of mind. This 5-minute journal focuses on gratitude to start and end your day.

5. Fill Up Water Tumbler
A healthy habit to start immediately is to drink more water. An easy hack to get this habit up and running is to fill up a 40 oz tumbler with ice water. I swear drinking ice water from a big tumbler has changed my life. I love and use my Simple Modern 40 oz water tumbler every single day. I drink at least one of them a day, sometimes two! Having a big tumbler helps with not having to constantly refill or worry about the ice melting.
6. Make Your Favorite Morning Beverage
If you don’t anticipate your morning beverage the night before, then you’re doing it wrong. Having a fun little caffeinated or decaf drink to look forward to gets me up and outta bed real quick. Grinding fresh coffee beans every few days has changed my coffee game. I use this coffee grinder from Amazon to experience a great cup of coffee every single morning.
7. Have A Healthy Breakfast
Having a healthy well-balanced breakfast can affect your entire day. To avoid feeling sluggish after breakfast, make sure to pair carbs with protein and fiber. For example, if you have a bagel every morning try it with peanut/almond butter and sliced bananas on top. Adding protein and fiber will not only make you feel fuller for longer but also won’t lead to a crash/feeling tired.

8. Get Ready
Now time for the fun part of your summer morning routine, getting ready. Skincare, light glowy makeup, and a cute outfit are a must in the summertime. This glowy summer makeup routine has been my go-to. If you’re looking for Summer work outfits, then be sure to check out this post!
9. Plan The Day
Make a list of everything that needs to get done that day, then prioritize them. Make sure to keep the list short and important. Do not add things that you know will not get done. It’s pointless and adds unnecessary stress. Try to keep it at 6 important tasks, because it’s reasonable and accomplishable. I personally use this Notion template and Google calendar. Google Calendar is amazing for time management and the Notion template is like a second brain.
10. Start Your Day
It’s finally time to start your day, but doesn’t it feel nice to focus on yourself at the start of the day? By 9 am you’ve already accomplished so much – you’ve made your bed, used an ice roller, read or journaled, had water and your favorite drink, enjoyed a healthy breakfast, gotten ready, and planned out your day. That’s definitely a productive and healthy way to kick off your summer mornings.
